August 8, 2008 - "Tips from the Experts"
Summary: I think the best way to learn about investing
is to hear how the best money managers invest their money. Hear two
of the industry's best, Bruce Berkowitz and David Winters, talk about what
they look for in stocks and their investment thesis on different
investments.
Interviews with two of my favorite fund managers.
While each manager definitely has his own style, I try to find the
underlying similarities that make them so successful. First up is Bruce
Berkowitz of the Fairholme Fund. The second video is David Winters
of the Wintergreen Fund. Listen to how simply they explain the
analysis of the stocks they have invested in. Hear Bruce Berkowitz
explanation of his investment in Sears Holdings (SHLD), and listen to
Winter's search of the trifecta (good businesses, good prices, and good
management)!
1) Patience to wait for their investments at their
price
2) Have cash on hand so they can buy in
downturns
3) Buy and invest at your price with a margin of safety
